my 4th and last pair of january socks....

IMG_0093.JPG

These are an adapted version of "Childs Socks in Miranda Pattern" from "Knitting Vintage Socks." I took out the leg shaping, as my legs really have no shape to them until you get to my hips. The yarn used was Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock in Vera. They were knit on size 0 needles.

Quickie Socks

This is a quickie pair of socks I made in plain stitch out of Trekking Zitron color #105. They are soft and cozy and warm and I think that this may become my favorite sock yarn. Mmmmmmm................:)

Snowflake Socks!

I recently finished the Snowflake Socks from Magknits and wore them for the first time today.

A pretty quick knit, considering the lace. :)

two pairs done this month...

Neither are fancy, but both were nice quick knits. The jaywalkers are in Knitpicks now discontinued parade, done on 3.0mm needles, with a 15 stitch pattern repeat. The other pair are just plain old stockinette socks in trekking 132.
I'm going to attempt to get one more pair at least finished before the month is through. I have a plain old ribbed cuff pair in opal and the "childs first sock in miranda pattern" in lorna's laces OTN, both on the second socks.

POLL

I have been wondering...
how many of us preferr toe up or cuff down...
Or
heelflap or short row?

Me? I am a cuff down girl( that's how I learned knitting sock, I tried toe up , but defaulted back to cuff down.. something about it just suits me better...) and short row all the way... I don't mind knitting the heelflap , but I like the short row heel fit better so I usually always knitt that , unless I am making socks for clogs and want something special on the heel....

I thought it might be interesting to find out who knitts how and why...

so have at it and tell us!!!

It's been a while

And it's not like I haven't been knitting socks. I've knit up a storm of socks! But in the interest of, well, interesting, I'll just show you the most recent two pairs.

First - my first pair of Lorna's Laces socks!
Generic Feather & Fan Socks
Pattern: Wendy's Generic Feather & Fan
Yarn: Lorna's Laces in Purple Club
Details - Magic Cast-On Toe US Size 1 Needles.

Second - my proudest pair to date - The Embossed Leaves Socks!

Embossed Leaves Socks

From Winter 2005 Interweave Knits
Trekking XXL in color # 109

I did these in less than 4 days! Such a quick and clever knit! I knit these up for a store sample to sell out an extra dozen or so copies of this issue. I can't wait until I can get them back and wear them! I love the fit of the round star toe - a first for me. I do believe I'll be using that again.

Currently, I'm working on a pair of Whiskers and Paw Prints socks out of some Koigu. One of my resolutions (besides knitting from my stash) was to knit with all the lovely sock yarns I've bought. First up was the Lorna's Laces, now the Koigu, next the Socks that Rock! I can't wait!

do you belive in casual socks?

I made the bow tie socks as kind of hous slippers for the kiddos but it was not enough yarn to make a whole pair in DD size so I made one in DS size and the mate for each in a different collour ( still stashbusting!!) the kiddos like them so all is well!
and the blue ones are a special order pair( cotton yarn).. ( # 5,6 and7)

50 pairs of socks!

I put together a flickr set with the socks I've knit this year. A few of the photos aren't visible yet because the patterns were test knits, but once I get the go ahead I'll make them public.

But this pair is one I'm particularly happy with:

It's a pair of socks I knit for bryghtrose with her yarn (JKnits Light) as "payment" for her checking on my kitties while I was away for the holidays.

The kitties are fine, I hope she likes the socks.

first sock

this is the first sock entirely started and finished in the new year! Stariel and her "a pair a week" thing has captured my attention and I have decided to try it myself this year...(Thanks for the inspiration Ariel!!!)

The first pair is only a very simple 2x2 rib cuff with a little rolled edge for the elderly mother of a neighbour... her feet are always cold and with the recent blackout we went through theyhave gotten even colder. I went and gave her my fuzz feet to warm her up a bit and now I am making these for her so she can have toasty toes in style ;)

just a multi sock picture.....

Just a bunch of socks I've knitted over the past year and a half. For more info on the yarn, look at my flickr site. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cmtigger/341169736/
