Why, Yes!

Pink= Lorna's Laces in Flamingo stripes (oh, I adore this yarn! Definitely need more) ,little *gasp* toe up!!! anklets with a picot bind off
Brown/turquoise= madil eden print Bamboo yarn... ( I don't like it!!!Not so much the knitting with it, but the way the socks came out with a different pooling pattern, never mind what I tried!), also *gasp* toe up!!!
I know, I am a cuff down girl and always will be, but every so often....one just has to give it a shot!

New September Socks!

After an excursion into thick fat shawl knitting I'm back to socks! Here are the ones I started last night. The yarn was dyed by me and I'm surprised by the effect as it is totally not what I was going for. The cable pattern is from Bäuerliches Stricken Book #2.

Here's a close-up of the cables, the colours are totally off though.

I know you all probably think I forgot about this blog. Well, yeah I kinda did. I was looking around my blog to see what could be spruced up and saw this blog on my sidebar and said, "OOOPS!"
I'm sorry I haven't been contributing and from time to time I wonder if I should continue, what with my own blog and now, Ravelry.

But for those that don't read our blogs or just want the sockness, here's to you:

who doesn't heart smores?

DD picked the Knit picks Memories yarn in the Smores ( her favorite treat) color way and the lace heart sock pattern. I have to make them a bit bigger then the pattern calls for and I am using smaller size needles... ( size 1 to be exact.) Also instead of the picots she wanted a rolled edge on top.
So here is the first one of DD customized lace heart socks on the needles just a wee bit past the heel:What is everybody else knitting on?

Lace-Cuff Anklets

Pattern: Lace -Cuff Anklets from "Favorite Socks"

Yarn : Panda Cotton (55% Bamboo,24%Cotton,21%elastic nylon) from Crystal Palace Yarns in red cinnamon

Verdict : Loved the Yarn! very nice to knit with! I got the Yarn with the kit from the Sock of the Month Club I joined. I would not have chosen this color for myself, but ended up loving it and probably will buy more in this colorway! It ended up being really nice and "spice " colored! Goes to show.. be more experimental! Sometimes it pays off!
Pattern was ok..I changed the toe a bit, I decreased a bit more ( in the end every round) and then pulled the last 12 stitches together with the cut off end instead stopping sooner and kitchener the toe together... makes it a bit more round and lately I seem to like that better...

The socks are for my DD, she picked the pattern.

Cherryo!

Look ! The new Sock Harvest is ready!
Cherries anyone?

I lost track of how many socks I made up to date... I gave a few away without documentation and just generally got tired of counting.
I guess I just don't give a s*ck..... ;)

sock project bags

These little sock project bags are everywhere now! I really think they are cute and a great idea to keep it all together. I tried making one and here is the result:

It is fully reversible and the drawstring is made form hand spun bamboo.
And here is the Sock project for IN the bag: Bernat Cotton in Neapolitan... but wait, there is more:

Remember the Cascade/Aruba lace socks?
Hubby didn't and they ended up in the washer...
Now my DD has lace fuzzyfeet....

And another two....

My mom's socks. I wasn't going to post these online anyplace, but then I realized that my mom had tried the first one on already.

Opal Flamingo Socks

The yarn is Opal Rainforest Flamingo, with some other yarn from Elann for the heels and toes.

The other socks are the socks from the Sock Madness competition. I got behind on this pair, and then finished up some other socks in between. They are Wildfoote in "crystal pink" and the leftover Lorna's Laces in "vera."

Birthday/Sock Camp socks :)

Socks #75 - the Birthday Socks!

Yarn: Trekking 104
Started: 4/10/07
Finished: 4/17/07

I started these socks on the ride to Anacortes right after my birthday brunch. I knit them on the ferry, did the majority of the knitting in the Grok the Sock class that the Yarn Harlot taught on Wednesday, and finished them up after I got home.

It seems appropriate that my 75th pair, such a nice big round number, was pretty significant. Although the socks are plain and were a quick knit they definitely have lots of memories!

One of my two pairs of socks done this month.

I finished both of the pairs of socks for this month, but I'm only doing pictures of one, since the other pair is a present and I know my mom checks my Flickr account. That pair will be posted after Mothers' day.

Here is the pair I can share.
Bamboozle Socks
They are made from Crystal Palace's Bamboozle. It's basically just a worsted weight version of Panda Cotton. (I do have this same colorway on order in the Panda Cotton) They were a nice quick knit, and I used a baby sock pattern from Knitting Vintage Socks, and I didn't have to change much to have them fit, other than the yarn and needles.

and the socktree in full bloom:

Blue stripes: Sassy stripes with heels and toes in leftover Zephyr
the other ones are Cascade Fixation in Sam ( loved knitting with it.. will do again!)

Finally some pictures taken

I did not fall off earth, I was just too busy with work and never was home when the light was good for taking pictures. All inside pictures were plain crap, so I had to wait until yesterday when it was nice and sunny.

The first socks I finished are knit from my own handspun! It's from Blue Faced Leicester roving which was handdyed by Adrian from www.helloyarn.com. It was also the first time Navajo plying worked just fine.
They are knit on 3 mm needles, which made it a quick knit.

At the moment I'm also going to school most Fridays and Saturdays and need some lunchbreak knitting. What is better than socks for this? Right, nothing.
First I finished my Knittyboard SockPal exchange socks, which I can't show here right now because they have not reached their destination yet. Then I knit the socks shown in the picture above. The next pair were knit in Colinette Jitterbug in the Magenta colour. That yarn is horrible to take pictures of, the colour is never right.

And yes, the tiny bit of yarn was all that was left. I almost had heart palpitations when finishing the 2nd sock, as I was sure to run out of yarn. So everyone who has feet bigger than a EU38 or US 7.5, buy 2 skeins, as I didn't make the cuffs very long. I knit it with 2.5 mm needles which is just what it says on the inside of the ball band where the general sock instructions are. On the outside it says to use 3.25 mm needles.

Now that those are finished too, I sure needed another pair. I could not resist the new Trekking Pro Natura yarn, which is 75% superwash wool and 25% bamboo. See what I'm knitting now.

I'll make sure to let you know how many socks I knit overall during my time at school. There they also asked me to bring all socks once we're done with classes, and we'll take a group picture with socks then.

Secret Socks

Well, I've been cranking out the socks but so many have been test knits or design projects that I can't post.

But here are a few since my last post:

Socks for the Knittyboard Sock Swap, for my partner String Bean in yarn I dyed myself.

Cable Twist socks for my friend knit in Artyarns Supermerino.

A sample sock in Jojoland Melody - very nice stuff!

Oblique Openwork from SKS, knit in Knit Picks Gloss for the SSS Swap.

What have all of you been up to?

my 4th and last pair of january socks....

IMG_0093.JPG

These are an adapted version of "Childs Socks in Miranda Pattern" from "Knitting Vintage Socks." I took out the leg shaping, as my legs really have no shape to them until you get to my hips. The yarn used was Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock in Vera. They were knit on size 0 needles.

Quickie Socks

This is a quickie pair of socks I made in plain stitch out of Trekking Zitron color #105. They are soft and cozy and warm and I think that this may become my favorite sock yarn. Mmmmmmm................:)

Snowflake Socks!

I recently finished the Snowflake Socks from Magknits and wore them for the first time today.

A pretty quick knit, considering the lace. :)

two pairs done this month...

Neither are fancy, but both were nice quick knits. The jaywalkers are in Knitpicks now discontinued parade, done on 3.0mm needles, with a 15 stitch pattern repeat. The other pair are just plain old stockinette socks in trekking 132.
I'm going to attempt to get one more pair at least finished before the month is through. I have a plain old ribbed cuff pair in opal and the "childs first sock in miranda pattern" in lorna's laces OTN, both on the second socks.
