Bee Stripe Socks

I finished these earlier this week, but somehow forgot to post them here (oh the horrors!)

Anyway, they're simple stockinette socks, knit toe-up in Lorna's Laces Bee Stripe. Nothing else notable except the fact that they're quite tall. :)

More socks, but you don't get to see these...

I finished test knitting a pair of socks yesterday, but of course I can't post pictures until the pattern is published, but for your amusement here's some parts that proove they exist:

Cuffs:

Feet:

Now to finish the other few pairs I have on the needles (Bee Socks for Ana, Cedar Creek and Conwy for me) That's actually somewhat of a record for me, only 3 pairs of socks in progress!

Getting "Stranded"

Just so you all didn't think I was full of horse pucky, here's a quick pic:

This is Crusoe. For anyone who may not know, I once had two pairs of this at once on a very long circ. I have since regained my sanity and took one pair off and moved this to a short circ. The other yarn will become a different pair of socks, pattern TBD.

I'm only using the pattern for stitch detail.

Maybe I'll try a different heel, something fancier than a regular flap or short row. The original pattern has a rolled down stockinette cuff; I changed it out for ribbing.

Hedera, coming right up!

I actually finished these a while ago, but I couldn't find my sock blockers because of *the big move* and so I didn't photograph them until now.

Best Foot Forward Socks

Oh my Freakin' hell. I started these suckers back on April 28th. Only now have I finished them. I can't believe it took that long. I'm so ashamed. In my defense, they're knit out of KnitPicks Dancing ("Swing" Colorway) on size 1 needles, so yeah, they sucked up the yarn like nobodies business. Once I hunkered down and really put an effort into it, I had the second one done in about 10 days.

Here's detail on the patterning:
Mini-Cable Detail

I know the yarn competes with the pattern. I kinda lost my mojo on them due to that. But I still liked the way they were knitting up. They fit like a dream!

I'm Back!

Took me for freakin ever to get on here. I'd forgotten my USERNAME of all things, so I couldn't retrieve my password. Then the old pooter took a nosedive and I was MIA for two weeks. Then I get back in the saddle and STILL can't remember my freakin name.. Well that's all taken care of.

What have I been knitting? I HAD two pairs of socks on one long circ going, but that got to be too much to handle. So I took a pair off the thing and am down to one pair at a time.

I've dyed some sock yarn for my little girls and will soon have some done for my son and a friend's son.

The tulip socks are no more. The yarn will be recycled to become mittens, instead.

Too many socks, so little time, not enough hands.

Pattern FINALLY typed up

I can't guarantee that there aren't typos in it- actually I would be very surprised if there were not typos- so watch out for them.
ZIG ZAG SOCKS

Currently I have a couple pairs on the needles, but I left them both at my parent's house. I think I'm going to have to cast on yet another pair since I won't be back there until Monday or Tuesday! (almost done with my opal prisma jaywalkers, and done with another pair of eyelet cheveron socks from my own handdyed yarn and pattern)

I'm still here...

... and I'm also knitting socks. I finished the pair for the husbeast in charcoal Regia silk, that I have started a long time ago. They're actually in the wash because they went from the needles to the feet within minute. So pictures will follow soon. Then I'm knitting my 2nd pair of Jaywalkers - the "springified" version, with yarnovers instead of kfb. (Pictures of both are in the April 23rd entry.) Third I'm knitting some socks for my SecretPal. So no pictures at the moment of those either.

More socks!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Pattern: out of my head
Yarn: Brown Sheep Naturespun sport weight
Started: 6/10/06
Finished: 6/19/06

If it seems that I've been lagging with the socks lately, well it's almost true. First I finished about half a pair, and then I started these. These socks are extra big, and I'm in the middle of moving. And then I finished them and blocked them and didn't photograph them until after they were done drying, so really it's not as bad as it seems.

Plus I've been concentrating on reducing the WIPs, and my first order of business is a piece of test knitting, which is secret and also not socks.

Secret Sox

I know I haven't posted for a while but I have been busy, its a beggar when life gets in the way of your knitting!!! However I have managed to knit 3 pairs of sox, 2 of which are "secret sox" for my secret pals!, and are pictured here. The other pair is for myself (I think) and I forgot to take a picture of them, so will post them later! (Must have had a senior moment!!!!)

The first pair of sox are knitted on 64 stitches on 2.5mm bamboo dpns and knitted in Lana Grossa Meilenweit Multieffekt from Italy, 80% virgin wool and 20% polymide. The pattern is a pattern I really like and have used on several occasions, it came free with Opal sock yarn.

These ones are also knitted by casting on 64 stitches on 2.5mm bamboo dpns and knitted in Opal Traumfanger from Germany, 75% virgin wool and 25% polymide. The pattern is ribbed lace which I found in "Sensational Knitted Socks" by Charlene Schurch , the heel flap is knitted in "Eye of partridge" stitch and gives a double thickness to the heel area.
(I think that traumfanger is the pattern of the yarn, but it is difficult when the lable is written in german and you can't read it!!!)

Here is a close up of the ribbed lace stitch, which I really quite like.It has 24 rows to each repeat.

Well, am I spangled?

Fortissima 1776 Socks Short Row Heels

I suppose they look more like stars once you put 'em on. But still, it's stretching the imagination.

Over the knee socks

Not quite done with the first one, but have just finished the gusset decreases. Should be finished tomorrow.

This is what the lace up the back looks like:

The ribbing at the top:

I couldn't get a good picture of the heel, but this is a little bit of it, with the measurement from the top to the bottom of the heel:

I'm looking forward to doing the second one, and maybe a pair for myself!

A couple pairs of socks over here too :)

I've been cranking out the socks lately. I just finished my 12th pair this year and I think I should really knit something else before it gets too hot. ;)

Pair 12 was the Lava Flow socks from Sockbug:

And here's pair 11:

I started the Cedar Creek socks from the first STR club package, since I hadn't gotten to those yet.

Opal ROCKS

I am finally back !
and- oooh I got myself into something new now... I tried Opal selfstriping sock yarn... and it ROCKS.. I love it... I had some leftover and made some wristlets out of it. I will go back and get me a stash of opal ... Oh here a picture of the socks... not the best one but for now it has to do!

I also made a bunch of babysocks for a bunch of pregnant friends but sadly forgott to make pics. but I promise the next pair will be photographed... promise...
so here the picture now

Ack!

I am such a flake! I finished these socks about two weeks ago, thought about possting them, and then totally forgot. The yarn is Wildefoote in the Rhapsody colorway. I put 9 stitches between the matched increases and decreases on these Jaywalkers to make them fit better and the pattern ate yarn like crazy. Two skeins made two socks with about 18" of leftover yarn.

Babysockline!

Have a look here at pictures of the sockline!

http://www.sockenwolle.de/index2.html

They got a total of 12.262 pairs of socks! The line was 1.289,50 m long!

There are still packages with socks arriving!

Stars and Stripes?! My A$$

Fortissima 1776

One down, one to go. Done in Fortissima 1776 - overpriced given the rumors and apparent popularity of this stuff. Do those look like stars to you? Me neither. There are some star-suggestive blobs here and there, but whoever first said that this was supposed to be stars and stripes, got the stripes part right, but the stars? Not so much.

Meh.

I will do the mate. It's on the list. *sigh* All that anticipation for a cheesy looking sock. I did it in Wendy's Generic Toe-up sock pattern as well.

Wendy's Generic Toe-Up Socks

As Bean would say, "Weeeeeee!" Oh wait, no, she'd say "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!"

Wendy's Generic Toe-Up Socks

These are my first Toe-Up socks, and I'm sold! Love them! They actually fit me! And the short row heel feels good too. But I had holes, even though I picked up the double wraps, so I wove some extra yarn back through the holes and closed them up. Bean mentioned adding extra stitches in the gaps (I assume that meant the holes?) to take care of that problem. How so? Some KFBs? When I pick up the wraps, I transfer the wrapped stitch to the right needle, lift up the wraps with my left needle onto the right, then I knit them or purl them all together. Is this the way y'all do it to? Help! I love the short row, but the holes bug me! Am I going to have to weave everytime?

As mentioned in the title, these are Wendy's Generic Toe-Up Socks.

Yarn: Sockotta 6670 "Fruit"
Needles: US 2
Started 5/4 Finished 5/8

Will I do these again? Many, many times and many adaptations, I'm sure.
